José Luis Torres: Autoconstrucciones

José Luis Torres: Autoconstrucciones, 2012 Thames Art Gallery and the McIntosh Gallery Curatorial Study Centre, 29 p. www.chatham-kent.ca/tag ; http://mcintoshgallery.ca

The catalogue recalls the exhibition presented at the Thames Art Gallery (Chatham, Ontario), from March 30 to May 6, 2012. The author Lorenzo Buj writes: “Since coming to Canada in 2003, Torres has chosen to accentuate a dialogue with architectural processes. A good deal of his output is still sculptural, but instead of situating the object within the bounded confines of gallery space or inserting it like a set-piece into a prescribed outdoor site, the sculptures spill out of buildings or attach to staircases and scale interior and exterior walls.”
